There are several reasons I became a writer, and 'avoiding mornings' is rather high on the list. It's not that I'm not a morning person, it's just that I'm much less likely to call down the wrath of the Cosmic Space Gods upon some poor fool who didn't give me a cup of tea if it's after 11am or so.
Therefore, when I was informed by Old Bear that I was expected to be ready and eager at an absolutely ungodly hour of the morning, I was...less than joyous. Especially as 'moving loads of boxes of stuff' was part of the pre-dawn festivities. After helping set up the Mongoose Stand, I turned my attention to the 'Upcoming Projects' display. We soon discovered that pin/board interaction was suboptimal when gravity was factored in, i.e. the pages kept falling off. I briefly considered wandering around like an Old Testament prophet, crying out "Yea, and Matt said 'let there be a new version of Traveller, and new stuff for ACTA, and the printer, though exploded, shall live once more!'", but that seemed excessive.
My first demo was PARANOIA, which was immensely fun. More details on the PARANOIA blog.
My second demo was supposed to be Babylon 5, but I was handed a sheaf of excuses by the players (ACTA tournament/ACTA tournament/ACTA tournament/Filming an episode of Nip/Tuck/ACTA tournament) and ended up with an empty table. Bah. In the absence of players, I wandered over to annoy in Loz's Elric game. The game went something like this:
Loz: You're all on a ship. The merchant has a weird statue.
Players: We're passive-aggressive towards everyone!
Loz: Ok, horrible things happen!
Players: We encourage and facilitate the horrible things!
Loz: Your ship runs aground on a mysterious island.
Players: We continue to mess with the statue.
Loz: Weird eldritch stuff happens!
Players: We watch.
Loz: More weird eldritch stuff happens!
Players: We watch.
Loz: More weird eldritch stuff happens! It looks like the world is about to end!
Players: We watch.
Loz: The world is on the very brink of utter destruction!
Players: Really?
Loz: YES!
Players: Oh... how about we watch, again.
Loz: Horrible things eat you.
Players: We watch.
Loz: You can't. They ate your eyes.
Players: Smeg.
This is the best place to see what is happening at Mongoose Publishing, and find out what is being worked on before the rest of the world is told. Regular posts will be made by Mongoose Publishing staff members, including writers, developers, artists - even the odd director now and again - letting you know what they are working on, and just what it is like working for Mongoose!
